If you’re looking for a way to improve the functionality of your iOS
Messages app but don’t feel like shelling out for BiteSMS for iPhone,
there are plenty of decent alternatives out there.
Couria, which is currently available in beta, is one such tweak, offering a neat
Quick Reply and
Quick Compose
system for a more efficient way of dealing with messages. At this point
in time, it’s free of charge, and having been tailored for the
relatively new iOS 7, looks very much like a native feature.
Couria
is described by the developer as a “centralized and customizable” QR/QC
system for iOS, and in actual fact, the support for the Messages app
only comes about courtesy of the specialized extension. This means that
while Couria and the SMS / iMessage add-on make for a much more fluid
messaging experience for jailbroken iOS users, Couria can also be used
to wider effect in third party apps like WhatsApp and Tweetbot by means
of extensions. Moreover, it’s also themeable, so if you’ve been having a
field day playing around with the aesthetics of your device, you can
ensure that Couria complies with the look you’re striving to achieve.
The
fact that it is open-source means that those familiar with code can
have a play around with it themselves, and in the process, make this
great tweak even better. Having been released last week, the developer
of Couria has been well and truly dedicated to making improvements, with
subsequent updates bringing things a lot more up to scratch.
Sure,
there are still quite a few bugs to be ironed out and such, but with
features like group messaging support now seemingly running without too
much difficulty and with more proposed changes in the pipeline, Couria
may prove a huge hit with those frequently messaging.
As aforementioned, it’s free of charge, and you can get your hands on it by adding the
cydia.qusic.me repository in your list of Cydia sources.
In
addition to main Couria install, you can install Couria for WhatsApp
and Couria for Tweetbot extensions from same repo to add the same Quick
Reply/Compose for these apps as well.
Give it a blast, and be sure to let us know how you get on by dropping a comment via the usual channels.
